The Q&A indicates the safety bar will automatically rise without any weight on it. But I thought an earlier blog indicated that the bubble will come down automatically if the chair is empty. Can the bubble come down if the safety bar is up?

We didn't forget the gold chair! These new chairs (on the GSE and Bluebird) are galvanized and shouldn't be painted. Also, unless we can find a leftover gold bubble from another installation, having a gold bubble is not going to be feasible. They need to be ordered in large batches, and at $3000 each... well, you get it :)

I hope Mt Snow doesn't mind a visiting lift mechanic answering...

I'm assuming VT tests its new lifts like we do in NH. A new lift must pass a two day Acceptance Test before the public can ride. One day is for testing the electrical systems and safety devices like tower alignment and derail detectors, grip monitors in the terminals and drive safeties. The second day is a load test. The uphill-bound chairs are loaded to full capacity (if the lift is designed for downhill riding more of the chairs will be loaded) and the drives and brakes are tested. The electric motor and any diesel auxiliary engines must perform as designed with the load to pass the test.

To add - Snow build up on the roof will definitely be an issue - given the pitch (looks to be greater than a 12 pitch) and metal roof the snow will tend to slide so consideration for a snow fence on the roof could be an option especially in the area of chair loading. You see this a lot in Boston on some of the older historic buildings with slate roofs where snow tends to slide.

Great work and look forward to seeing and enjoying the finished product!
