Irene, Sandy – the force of Mother Nature
It looks like Vermont will not take the brunt of this storm but our extended family will. Our thoughts are with you – we understand the anxiety you are feeling. Like you were here for us, we will do our best to help you. One of these days Mother Nature will get it right and dump about 3 ft of snow on us so we can do what we do best. Until then, be safe.

Generator worked great…just wished it had been snow. Heartfelt sympathies for those impacted by Sandy.
Robert….where are you located? Do you have power yet? I agree – everyone in the Mount Snow Valley would like to help those in need. We remember so clearly how many people came and assisted us after Irene. We would like to pay it forward. If you know of a community that needs help, please post here and I can do the research. Preferably a town that we have ties to. Maybe a place that a second homeowner or season passholder is from??
Many loyal Mount Snow lovers here on Long Island. We took a beating to put it mildly. Smithtown, St. James got hit hard as well as many south shore communities such as Brezzy Point had almost 100 homes burn to the ground at one time with efforts halted by waist deep flood waters. Hope this passes, and deep snow comes .

Thanks for your kinds offer of help. We have a lot of trees down, but are one of the few streets in our town with power. Things will definitely recover. I returned to work at the College of Staten Island today, and things are much worse there. I have at least 2 students who have lost everything – in one case the entire family home was swept into the ocean. There may be others I haven’t heard from. There are also very believable stories about many more dead than have been announced so far, with bodies awaiting identification. Things are still pretty chaotic there, but I will be back on Monday, and may have some more useful information. I think Staten Island really is the forgotten place in this whole storm.
Wow Jane….That is a lot to deal with. I am surprised you are back to school – great. From what I have seen on the news, Staten Island took it very hard. Take Care and hope to see you soon.

Hope all is well up at the mtn. can’t wait until opening day. i haven’t missed one in aprox 20 years. i live on the south shore of long island and i can tell you it was hit hard. by the ocean the entire landscape has changed. hundreds of feet of beach are gone as well as the houses on them. boats found miles away from where they were before the storm. no power, no gas and it is getting cold. some how we manage to go on and will get through as always. in any event will see you and the mtn soon. jimmy (retired petes buddy)

Its very heartwarming to read this blog. We have been going to Mt. Snow for the last 12 years and recently (2 years back) purchased our condo there. We live in NJ which was hit really hard by Sandy. Fortunately we are in central NJ and did not receive much damage but please lets not forget all the families in NJ that have been impacted that visit the MS area. Thank you for your hearfelt prayers.
