I did want to put my 2 cents in on the closing date:
I realize that Mt. Snow is a business, but lest us forget that the “business” of Mt. Snow is pleasure. It would be great if we could keep the mountain open until the snow runs out (or at least until the end of April). I am sure a proper response would be “it is not economically feasible” and I am sure I will miss 1000 different expenses in this one, but how about this:
Keep the Canyon Express and Challenger lifts open until the end of the month..I don’t even need food or drinks. based upon that, you need 4 lift operators (2 per lift, top/bottom), 1 ticket person a few groomers,, some first aid ppl, plus of course the electricity to run the lifts.
Will it be a financial windfall, not likely, but us long time diehards will be thrilled and will keep coming up until the party ends. It would be such a shame to close that mountain with the insane amount of snow it has right now and barring a week of rain or 85 degree temps, it should remain for quite some time!
However, I have seen nothing officially posted? Us loyal “Mount Snowers” and season passholders deserve to al least know something? Love to come up one more weekend, especially after last season! Seems like we are a bit in the dark.]]>
Just wanted to thank you and the team for another fantastic season!!! This year has been truly epic! Have a great summer…hoping for another great season next year!
Kelly, Please give it a thought for your loyal passholders.
I have written once or twice before regarding the possibility mount Snow may close on April 14. As you yourself point out, the snow base and coverage is incredible. I skied three days last week, will be there 3 days this week, and plan to ski at least 4 days the following week.
My plea is simple: don’t close until the weather and snow base determine that you should (kind of like it used to be in the old days, when I skied at Mount Snow on May 1). Last season ended incredibly early; let’s have this season stretch late.
Finally, as a possible compromise: if you must close midweek, then re-open for the weekend. Jiminy Peak, where I used to ski, did that on many occasions.
Reward your season pass holders with a longer ski season, especially after last year’s disaster.
