…of the year. At least that is how the Staples commercial calls it! This year “back to school” is bittersweet at the Pawlak house. My husband and I officially become empty nesters. Our son is off to college and our daughter graduated this past year.
But I digress. The real reason that it is the most wonderful time of the year is because on Aug 30 & 31, Mount Snow will hold its 20th Brewer’s Festival. Again, bittersweet. 20 years ago my daughter was two and my son wasn’t even a glimmer in our eyes.
Back then I was the event coordinator at Mount Snow and one of the guys in management handed me a clipping from a newspaper about a beer festival. He said, “We should have one of these.” Being in my 20’s and in complete agreement, I did some product research (hey, someone had to do it) and in 1994 we held our first Brewer’s Festival. 1,000 people showed up….about 500 more than we had planned on. Dogs and cigars were in abundance (some things have changed) and the weather was perfect.
Fast forward twenty years and this perennial favorite still boasts over 80 premier brews, great food, live music all laid out in in a gorgeous, outdoor Green Mountain venue. It is a little crazy that my daughter is now old enough to attend this event and test the product herself! Time flies so don’t wait to book and start designing your team t-shirts.
