West Dover, Vt. (April 16, 2013) – Thanks to a deep snow pack on the trails of Mount Snow’s Carinthia, the east’s only all freestyle terrain mountain face, the southern Vermont resort has decided to reopen for one more weekend of skiing and riding this Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, rain or shine. Mount Snow opened for the season in mid-November and this will stand as one of its latest closing dates in the last decade.
The plan is to operate the Nitro Express Quad from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days which will access advanced terrain only including two trails with no terrain park features and at least two other full terrain parks. In addition, if the snow holds up the resort plans to operate the Beartrap Double which will provide access to Mount Snow’s famous mogul run, Beartrap, complete with 80’s music blasting from the lift tower mounted speakers.
“This has been such an exciting season, we wanted to keep that excitement going and take advantage of all the snow we still have at Carinthia,” said Kelly Pawlak, Mount Snow’s general manager. “We are looking forward to one more weekend of fun and hope to see a great turnout of people to help us celebrate what was a fantastic winter.”
Lift tickets will be $29 for all ages except kids 5 and under ski for free. Season passholders at mountains that have already closed for the season can show their season pass at the ticket window and get $5 off the ticket price. Carinthia Base Lodge will be open for food and beverage, seating, retail and bathrooms. Equipment rentals, lessons and snow guarantees will not be available.
