Mount Snow Opening for the 2013/2014 Winter Season on Friday, November 15

11/13/2013 – West Dover

Dover, Vt. (November 13, 2013) – Thanks to a recent cold snap that brought a stretch of ideal snowmaking conditions to Vermont, Mount Snow will open for skiing and riding on Friday, November 15 with top-to-bottom terrain on two different mountain faces, including a terrain park with full size features at Carinthia. The resort traditionally opens closer to the Thanksgiving holiday timeframe, but the largest arsenal of high output snowmaking fan guns in North America coupled with temperatures consistently in the teens over a three day stretch made this early opening possible.

“Our snowmakers have been out on the mountain around the clock since Monday afternoon,” said Dave Moulton, Mount Snow’s Director of Mountain Operations. “I really can’t say enough about the work they’ve done to get us in the position we are right now.”

Mount Snow plans to open with seven trails with skiing and riding for intermediate to advanced ability levels only from the summit; beginner terrain will be available on the resort’s learning area called Launch Pad. Four lifts will serve the open terrain from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Operations will be closed Monday through Thursday of next week (Nov. 18 – 21) with an anticipated re-opening date of Friday, November 22, weather permitting, for the remainder of the season.

Carinthia, the #1 Terrain Parks in the East (TransWorld Snowboarding, SKI Magazine), will have The Gulch open from top-to-bottom with a number of full-size features.

Lift ticket rates will be $55 for adults, $45 youth and senior, $5 for kids 5 and under and a lower mountain ticket for Launch Pad/Discovery Shuttle lift will be $30. There will be no multi-day or afternoon lift tickets and no snow guarantees will be provided.
