Mount Snow’s Training Center is one of New England’s premier freestyle, alpine race and snowboard education and competition centers. Our specialized seasonal programs afford young athletes the opportunity to further enhance their love of their sport through our Development and Competitions Programs.
Development Program – Dec. 6th, 2008 – Mar. 15th, 2009
Our 15-week Development Program is for skiers and riders ages 6 through 18 and focuses on developing sound skills and the technical aspects of snowboarding, all mountain skiing & freestyle skiing. Participants are matched with a coach based on their area of interest and their ability level. One coach oversees a small group of kids whose skills and abilities compliment each other. This coach works with them on a weekly basis, helping them to become proficient in the use of Mount Snow’s terrain features and encouraging the development of their skills. The Development Program provides the personalized attention of working with the same coach each session and the group confidence of learning with familiar faces. The program is also an environment in which the participants are able to have fun and form lasting friendships.
This program also features exciting social and on-snow activities. Perennial favorites include our Crazy Hat Race, Obstacle Course, Family Race and end-of-season Ice Cream and Awards Party. These programs are a great "feeder" for our Competition Programs and ultimately the Mount Snow Academy.
The skiing program features 2 specialty areas: All Mountain and Freestyle. The All Mountain program concentrates on developing all around skiers along with aspects of racing skills. The Freestyle program trains skiers in all aspects of bumps, jumps and terrain park.
Kids are grouped first according to their ability level and then by their age as of December 2008. The program runs every Saturday and Sunday, 12/6-3/15, from 8:30am-12:45pm, as well as the additional dates of 12/29-12/31.
