Words from the Guide: Progress!

My name is Allen Gallup and I am the Head Mountain Bike Guide here at Mount Snow.  I have been teaching mountain bike clinics since 2005 and have been an avid cross country and downhill rider ever since. This is my third summer working for Mount Snow’s mountain bike program and I have enjoyed teaching a wide variety of clients ranging from 6 to 60 years of age! I look forward to getting folks out on our classic and brand new terrain as the sport of mountain biking is always progressing.

As summer continues in Southern Vermont, I have been enjoying all sorts of different riding conditions from fast and smooth to wet and technical, which is why I love calling Mount Snow and the East coast my home. We are tough sons-of-guns in New England; we love skiing and riding in almost any condition and riding our bikes through the muddy trails of our diverse forests! The rain in the past few weeks have kept our machine built trails nice and tacky so you’re not eating your buddies dust cloud like last summer and the woods are in classic east coast condition for your riding pleasure!

With the weekend upon us we have a triathlon going on Saturday called the Tri for Hope, which helps raise money for the American Cancer Society, so stop on by and help cheer on the athletes competing for a great cause! If you’re coming up to ride some downhill trails this weekend be sure to bring your cross country or enduro bike too for some cross country trail riding. Our trail crew has been working hard opening up our classic cross-country terrain and we are happy to announce Trail 2 is now open for riding. On the downhill side of things, we have officially opened up our classic race line on Yard Sale to the public for riding so take a run down this technical rock garden for a top notch rush!

With so many new people coming up to ride our trails we are lucky to have a good variety of terrain and a top-notch trail crew to keep everything in tip top shape! If you’re thinking about trying mountain biking for the first time, stop in to Mount Snow Sports at the Grand and chat with some guys who have been riding since the dawn of the sport. We offer great clinics for all ages and abilities or if you’re an avid rider we can take you out for a few hours and give you a tour so you don’t have to stress about finding the money lines. Hope to see you out on the trail!
